August Director’s Message

Dear Members,

As we approach August, we’re just finishing the celebration of our volunteers! I say this often, but I mean it more and more every time… We couldn’t and wouldn’t be here with out our volunteers. We have more volunteer hours that go into our Center each day than we do staff hours. How amazing is that? When I get praise for the job I’m doing, my heart smiles, not because of anything I’ve done, but because it truly does take a village. A village of volunteers that is. Our volunteers assist from everything to answering our phones, helping with our lunch services, activities, fundraisers and more. Looking back it was our volunteers who taught me how to Direct. They taught me how things were done at this Center and why. They’re a kind and loving person to our recipients, a friendly face when you need it the most, a helping hand always. They’re compassionate and caring, they’re generous and giving. They lead our team of staff by example and they make us want to be better at what we do. Many of you reading this are volunteers at the Center, to you, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you do here to make our Community Center a beautiful place. If you’re reading this and you’re not a volunteer, I encourage you to thank a volunteer next time you’re here! Thanks surely doesn’t seem like enough, but it’s a fabulous start!
