August Director’s Message

Dear Members,

As I type this, I’m reminiscing still about our amazing volunteer celebration! Each and every volunteer at the Center pours out love and generosity into this place making it better and brighter. We are so grateful for every minute they so generously donate because we just simply could not do the work we do without them. Just this last month, a meals on wheels client passed away comfortably and with someone by their side as opposed to all alone and in pain because of the valued driv-er and their decision to notify the staff of a concern who could then take proper steps to assure their care and comfort. Our volunteers are often our eyes and ears in the community taking notice of those who our mission to serve is focused on. This story doesn’t stand alone, they are told here at the Center daily because of our amazing volunteers. As I spoke at our appreciation event I had such a clear vision of what our volunteers do for us…. for me. They restore my hope in humanity daily. They restore my hope in humanity when I need it the most. They restore my hope when everything else in our Nation seems to be broken and lost and sad, they fill me with hope and remind me that there is still so much good in the world. I invite anyone to come to our Center for just a few minutes to be filled up with the same amazing hope I get the honor of soaking in each day. The love and generosity they pour out will find it’s way to you if you step inside our door!
