February Director’s Message

Dear Members,

Love is in the air! Can you feel it? While we feel love daily at the Center, there is something about the month of February that brings it out in full force! We’re celebrating our month of “Love” by holding our 3rd annual Sweetheart’s Celebration, and we’re looking forward to the fun and excitement that is packed into the evening. We will be graced with beautiful musical entertainment by the talented Maria Callahan and January Drake, we’ll bid to our heart’s desire with both a live and a silent auction, and we’ll enjoy a scrumptious spaghetti dinner prepared by our amazing chef Cathy. Historically, tickets for this evening’s event have sold out, so we encourage you to purchase yours in advance! If you’re unable to attend, but still desire to support the Center through this event, you can do so through the donation of auction items or by making a monetary donation marked “auction”. We thank you in advance for supporting our largest event of the year and hope you can make it!

We try to communicate to you the best we can in regards to all of our services and programs, but please know that sometimes things are beyond our control. A recent change has come up with our “bread day” program. We are now noticing the effects of the sale of Safeway (to Albertson’s) that took place months ago. The change became even more complex when we add the fact that the donations were actually those from the Oregon Food Bank relationship that we have. While we have felt a slight disruption and may experience changes to dates and times, what I do want you to know is that the program WILL be back! We’re grateful for all of our relationships with donors and will continue to rectify the confusion and disruption of this particular program as soon as possible. Please know that Safeway is not responsible for these changes and they are working diligently with us to sort out the details to our benefit.

I thank you once again for your trust and understanding through these situations, and for the support you provide us so that we may continue to put into motion daily the mission of our Center in serving our community.
