October Director’s Message
Dear Members,
I hope this finds you all well and beginning to bundle up for the cooler weather and crisp air. We have numerous exciting things happening this month. First a congratulations and a warm welcome to Shannon Cope, our new Nutrition Manager. Shannon has been a volunteer of the Center for years driving for our TRP program so to many she’s a familiar face and name. Shannon has a heart for seniors and is great in the kitchen.
I’m excited for this addition to the already fabulous team and look forward to all that she will bring to our nutrition program. I’m excited to share that the Center is bringing “Walk with Ease” back this month! Two great volunteers, Margaret and Michelle, have become certified and we will see this new class designed to reduce your arthritis pain through walking back in session on Oct. 13th! In addition to the Walk with Ease class we are also launching our new and improved aerobics class, “Better Bones & Balance.” Netra & Jodi became certified in this class which is designed to gradually improve balance and strength to avoid falls and maintain independence. Join us in either or both of these great options in addition to our already ongoing programs and classes.
We are still looking for donations towards our roof project. We were able to raise enough funds to repair dry rot that was found on 4 exterior walls of our building as well as paint the exterior. We’re aware that the roof is in poor condition and is needing a replacement as soon as possible. Funds have been raised but we’re still needing to come up with an additional $10,000. Donations can be mailed or dropped off at the Center please designate the funds are for the roof. The Center also takes vehicle donations. If you have any questions regarding the project or the methods of donations please feel free to contact me.
October is full of presentations for Medicare, take advantage of the experts knowledge as they are here to answer your questions and provide you with the latest information. We also have Energy Assistance beginning this month, we will be taking these appointments after the 1st so call us then to secure your spot.
